Survey Technician

·         Responsible for working directly with So California Gas Co in finding the correct locations that meet certain criteria’s needed for the best RF reception of Aclara’s equipment.

·         Exact measurements are taken of the pole location. Lat/Longs, closest streets, address in relation to the candidate.

·         After identifying the solar panels will be facing south, there are no obstructions or other interferences close to the location, the DCU (Digital Control Unit) will be installed on the pole candidates selected by the Gas Company. The DCU’s will later communicate with the Meter Transmission Unites (MTUs) installed on the gas meters in the surrounding properties in the area.

RF Field Technician

·      I worked with Metro PCS out of the Irvine CA office starting in mid December, 2007 to the end of my employment with 4G Inc.

·      Responsible of Site Surveying; verifying the sites location, height, antenna orientation, make sure the PN’s are correct  for each sector and verify if the site is a rooftop set up or if it’s a Monopole, Monopine or Monopalm. All data is then put into a spread sheet then emailed to the lead of the project.

·      E-911 testing; calling designated Police Departments from each sector of every site to verify and confirm phase 2 data and other specific information needed to assure that their 911 emergency system is working properly with Metro PCS’s network and meets FCC regulations.

·      Continues Wave Testing. (CW) Setting up transmitters and or signal generators; omni antennas, coax cables. Transmit a given frequency to the receiver in my vehicle, then proceed to drive test the given area.

·      Microwave testing for Lucent Technologies. Responsible for line of site testing between cell sites.  I was given a path to fallow as closely as possible documenting and photographing any obstructions in the line of site of the Microwaves. I would calculate the distance and height of the obstruction and confirm if the path was ok, or if it was unable to be used.

·      Site Calibration and Validation testing using the ZK SAM for measuring data.

·      Also working with Verizon Wireless doing E911 and site surveys.

·      Quality Assurance testing. (QAA)

·      Rehome testing in Iowa. Checking the connectivity after changes were made to the network. Testing data  & voice connections: mobil to mobil, mobil to lan, lan to mobil, 611 & 911 calls.

Drive Test Technician

 

·         WFI was doing the preliminary testing for the new WiMax technology.  I was e-mailed on a daily basis the drive route, cell site information, time and location of where we would be working for that day.  

·         Met up with the driver/assistant at the site, we would bring equipment to the rooftop.  Take measurements of the structure; which included the building’s height, rooftop length and width, and the latitude and longitude of the set up. 

·         Setting up the equipment included:  connecting the watt meter to the transmitter to establish the power needed.  Take pictures of every setting to document all steps taken in the testing process: watt meter power; reflected and forward power before the cable and after the cable to determine power loss; frequency being used and the set up of the equipment. Get the span and the azimuth of any obstruction that was in the line of site of the antenna.

·      Take pictures of the surrounding area to establish what the antenna is actually seeing; set up

the computers, confirm on the Cayote Receiver that the correct frequency is being transmitted.  Then proceed to navigate the route that the engineer had made for that day.

RF Drive Test Technician

·         Responsible for Cluster drives and System drives of selected areas and the post processing of that data using Actix 4.02.  Along with processing the data, I would also build Power Point presentations of the SQE and the RSSI breakdown.

·         Continues Wave testing of potential new sites.  Set up a designated frequency or channel, transmit and record data from the drive route given to me by the engineer responsible for that area.  Testing would be done with a temporary set up; one being a tri-pod set up for roof tops and the other being a crank tower set up for open land area testing; reaching heights of up to 110 feet.   Most testing was done with the RSAT data collection tool and OptimEyes software.

·         Responsible for Optimization testing using X-50 equipment; designed and engineered by Comarco Wireless. My last project was an 8 month contract with Nortel and Sprint PCS.   Testing each site after being upgraded with Nortel equipment.  Testing at the azimuth of each sector to record Rx and Ec/Io levels.  Confirm the BTS had the correct PN numbers that were in the current neighbor list.  Made sure site was able to do softer hand off’s within each sector of site and able to soft hand off’s in and out of adjacent sites from Alpha, Beta and Gamma.

·         Responsible for Quality of Service RF testing or Benchmarking for up to 8 different networks at one time all over the United States, using equipment made by Comarco Wireless. Doing this type of testing, allowed me to learn different aspects of many models of phones, such as programming, changing firmware, setting up phones for different markets and networks.

·         After data was recorded in the field, it was then analyzed and plotted.

·         Trained many people in the usage of the Baseline, X-50 and the TOM equipment.

·         GPRS and frequency testing using TEMS Investigation software.

·         Interfaces I have worked with include: GSM, CDMA, TDMA, iDEN, & IS136.

Drive Tester

·         Responsible for RF bench mark testing of entire southern California network using TEMS software with Ericsson equipment.  I was given a map within a designated area; I drove the area plotted for testing.  I would then down load data on to the network at the end of the day for engineers to review and analyze.

·         Pre-Construction- Setting up a Mono Pole van in a designated area set up by our site acquisition and engineer’s from Pac Bell; we would then test and record the area using Grayson equipment for signal strengths and handoffs.

·         Comparison Testing-Responsible for testing up to 8 networks using equipment from Comarco Wireless.  In the length of time I used the equipment, it give me many opportunities with trouble shooting; which also allowed me to learn the equipment very well. Along with using the baseLINE equipment, I would also use their workBENCH software to review drive statistics.  I have very good knowledge of the equipment; which allowed me to train other people in the usage of the equipment.
